Logic is not the Language of Politics

Summary: This article attempts to explain why "logic" is not the chosen language for politics or diplomacy.

Logic is the language of philosophy or sciences, and is ill-suited for politics.

If at all a politician has to use "logic", then they should dip it in honey (i.e. flattery) or sugar coat it with wit and humour.

It is important to note that simple plain logic, which is sharp like a knife, and could give raise to resentment, in most cases.

The following example provides a detailed explanation.

Assume that there is a bag of apples, a bag of oranges and a bag of grapes, all meant for sale.

Ordinary lay persons would buy, whatever fruits, they would like to eat.

Merchants/traders on the other hand would buy, whatever fruits, they can sell in the market.

A good diplomat would buy all three bags, without applying any logic or second thought, for that is "The art of diplomacy".

Remarks
Those who studied maths could recognize, that there are many logics; and those who studied political science or computer science could easily understand, that they can build their own logic, out of thin air.

An argument cannot be settled, unless there is a common perspective between the groups. Building bridges across disparate logics/viewpoints is the job of the diplomat. Without these bridges, "all communication" could come down to a grinding halt.

Making another person/group understand and appreciate, a particular viewpoint or perspective, is "The hallmark of diplomacy".

This again is a skilful art, than something that could be accomplished, with just "terse" logic.
